Luke, was my Dad’s best friend but i never thanked him for that. So fifteen years after i last saw Luke i sent him this thank you note along with the Standing Falcon sculpture.

To Luke,

My Dad’s best friend; a man he admired a lot, and to whom i was first introduced in what looked like a two-car garage overflowing with hand-painted signs on Haliburton Street.

I just want you to know that despite my misadventures i have completely transformed my agenda for the good.

Dad always spoke of you as a man on a mission with just a little more spunk than he himself had–and he respected you for that. Well done.

Know all is well on this branch of the Parnell tree. Compelled to offer nothing but love, admiration and a sculpture for a very special amigo; Luke Caya.

Yours Truly, Gordon Parnell

P.S. The enclosed sculpture, Standing Falcon is yours because when i looked at it one day i saw you, my Dad’s best friend: August, a beloved fellow standing tall. and very beautiful besides.

So, Thanks for being there for my Dad. He loved you man. All my love to your dear family.

Cheers, Gordon
